23 June – PZ Reads Our Mind, If Not Our Blog

Occasionally, we think one of the three regular readers of this site might be PZ Myers himself. That’s not as nuts as you might think, we use the same blog platform as he does and it notifies him when we link to his site (we’re pretty sure that’s how it works, anyway). So on days like today we think he must be posting spider picture after spider picture just to dare us to not count them as science posts.

But we don’t actually care about the results of our semi-scientific experiment. We care about the process, and as long as PZ Myers is anywhere in the neighborhood of science and not politics or public policy, we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

He’s also on a 4-day truth streak – almost broken today when he started to go on a rant about capitalism, but pulled himself back just in time to avoid yet another lie. We’re nowhere near our monthlong target – and we think scientists on an Antarctic expedition will discover Hell before PZ Myers goes a month without lying – but credit where credit’s due. PZ has been a humble, touching scientist lately and that’s a very good thing.

Final Tally:

Today: 6 science-related posts, 2 posts on other stuff

Since 30 May 19: 29 science-related posts, 68 non-science posts.

30% of PZ’s posts on a “science blog” have been about science.

Note: Most of PZ’s posts on science since 30 May have been dedicated to a spider data gathering initiative. There have been precious few posts on anything else having to do with science. When the spider initiative is complete, we’ll take a look at the numbers and parse out how much other science content he provides.

Today: 0 PZ Myers Lies – It’s been 4 (!) days since he’s lied about anything!

Since 30 May 19: 27 PZ Myers Lies

Over to you, PZ. Until tomorrow.
